What We Did
It was essential that close attention was paid to the integration of the mechanical services within the building, so that there was no impact on the scope of the interior design, or the local environment.
In order to achieve this goal, heating and cooling was provided via concealed fan coil units positioned discreetly around the building and the chillers and associated equipment were installed below ground in a purpose made plant room beneath the pavement.
The very stringent local authority noise policy required that any sound breakout from the plant room should be at least 10 dB(A) below the lowest measured background noise level, which typically occurs in the early hours of the morning. These requirements were actually exceeded following the installation of extensive sound attenuation within the plant room.
Local operation of the system was achieved via the installation of bespoke wall mounted controllers, specially finished to compliment the interior design.
As part of the mechanical package we also designed and installed all of the domestic services and above ground drainage, to serve the numerous kitchens, bathrooms and staff accommodation.
